RELIGIOUS POLITICAL PARTIES:
THE POSITION OF THE NAIROBI BAPTIST CHURCH
The Nairobi Baptist Church has, over the years, been blessed with Politicians from all shades of Political persuasion. Some serve in the Government. Others belong to the Opposition. We appreciate and respect their choice of political affiliation. Some of them publicly state their faith commitment in Jesus Christ. We appreciate them all.
Equally, some aspiring politicians in the year 2007 Elections belong to our congregation. We shall respect their choice of political affiliation. We believe that the scenario at the Nairobi Baptist Church is replicated in many different Churches and other places of worship.
Such already politically active or such aspiring politicians will depend on the vote of all persons of good will. Potential voters who desire to see the rule of law, justice and fairness for all, as well as socio-economic advancement in our beloved Kenya. They are counting on the votes of men and women such as come to places of Worship like the Nairobi Baptist Church.
The position of the Leadership of the Nairobi Baptist Church therefore, is to maintain our tradition and practice of many years. We will advise that each member of the congregation of the Nairobi Baptist Church seeks to belong to a party of his or her choice, but with prayerful, informed and strategic considerations of the implications of such a choice. The Nairobi Baptist Church does not and will not endorse membership to any Political Party.
For the Nairobi Baptist Church Leadership,
Judah Arap Bett John C. Gichinga (Rev.)
CHAIRMAN, ELDERS’ COURT SENIOR PASTOR
