c6.2. The Elders’ Court
c6.2.1. There shall be an Elders’ Court consisting of a minimum of eleven and a maximum of nineteen elected Elders including the Honorary Treasurer, the Honorary Secretary, the Senior Pastor and the Board Chairpersons.
c6.2.2. The Elders’ Court shall be the governing authority of the Church. They shall guide and support the Pastorate in its leadership of the Church so that it achieves its purpose as provided in Article c2.
c6.2.3. They shall be responsible for ensuring that the Church is Christ-centred and Christ-honouring in its life and activities.
c6.2.4. They shall be responsible for the theological interpretation of the Scriptures and overall policy direction in all matters including preaching, teaching, pastoral, financial, administrative and other ministry-related affairs.
c6.2.5. They shall possess the qualifications laid down in the Scriptures. They shall be elected from and by the members and will be accountable to the membership:
c6.2.5.1. The names of consenting candidates who have been proposed and seconded by fellow members shall be circulated to members at least fourteen days prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting at which their election is to be considered.
c6.2.5.2. They shall serve for a period of three years and then be eligible for re-election for a further period of three years. After serving for six consecutive years, they shall stand down for at least one year before being eligible for re-election.
c6.2.6. The Associate Pastors will be ex-officio members of the Elders’ Court without voting rights and shall not count toward quorum.
c6.3. Boards and Committees
c6.3.1. There shall be Boards and Committees of the Church whose responsibility is as described in the Bylaws.
c6.3.2. The Boards may be created and dissolved by the members on the recommendation of the Elders’ Court, while the Committees may be created and dissolved by the Elders’ Court.
c6.3.3. All Board and Committee members shall be Church members.
c6.4. The Pastorate
c6.4.1. There shall be a Senior Pastor who shall serve as the spiritual leader of the Church.
c6.4.2. The Senior Pastor shall be accountable to the Elders’ Court and shall serve as an ex-officio member of all Boards and Committees.
c6.4.3. There shall be Associate Pastors responsible for Church ministries in designated Boards. They shall be accountable to the Senior Pastor.
c6.4.4. The calling of the Senior Pastor shall be as per the procedure set out in Article b8 while the calling of the Associate Pastors shall be as per the procedure set out in Article b2.7.
c6.4.5. There shall be Pastors and Assistant Pastors who shall assist the Associate Pastors.
c6.4.6. The Senior Pastor and Associate Pastors shall serve a tenure contract of seven years, followed by a Sabbatical of one year, and another term of seven years. All other Pastors shall serve a tenure contract of three years, renewable.
c6.4.7. The renewal or termination of the tenures of the Senior Pastor and Associate Pastors shall be on the recommendation of the Elders’ Court to the members.
c6.4.8. The Associate Pastors shall serve as Secretaries to their respective Boards.
c6.4.9. There shall be established a Senior Ministry Team consisting of the Associate Pastors and led by the Senior Pastor.
c6.4.10.The Pastorate shall undertake their responsibilities by virtue of their individual calling by God and consistent with the mandates set out in the Bylaws and in their individual contracts.
c6.4.11.The Pastorate shall subscribe to this Constitution.
c6.5. Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary
c6.5.1. The Honorary Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of all business meetings of the Elders’ Court and the Church and shall maintain the official Church Membership Roll as well as a current copy of the Church Constitution.
c6.5.2 The Honorary Treasurer shall receive, hold and disburse all cheques, monies, bonds, collateral or funds of any kind belonging to the Church, as directed by the Elders or by the Church membership. He shall keep a true and fair record of all transactions and shall provide unaudited periodic reports to the Elders' Court. Audited Annual Accounts shall be provided during the Annual General Meeting.
