WALKING WITH THE UNCHANGING GOD

PREAMBLE

A call to walk with God is a call to a walk of faith. God chose to call Abram. Abram may have known very little about God at that time but when God spoke to him Abram believed and did that which he was asked to do. The Bible says, “Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” (Gen. 15:6). God has not changed. He is the same one today who calls us to walk with Him in salvation and service through faith and obedience. In this month’s study series, He challenges us with the testimonies of Abram and Joshua—two great  models of how we should live and serve the unchanging God.

THE DELIVERANCE COVENANT

[Review of Last Week’s Memory Verse:  Genesis 12:3]

Introduction:

The book of Joshua is a book of renewed hope. After four decades of wandering in the wilderness, all the older generation except Joshua and Caleb who believed in God’s deliverance had died off. Observe:

1.  What instructions did God give to Joshua?

2.  What circumstances caused God to give Joshua the instructions?

4.  What command did the Lord give about the Book of the Law?

5.  What command did Joshua give to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh?

6.  What was the response?

10. Can you relate any of your successes or failures to obedience or disobedience?

Joshua 1:8

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth;  meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
